This is so very embarrassing.
I recently went to a really important meeting with a marketing agency to work on a collaboration and I was asked 3 different times for my business card. I haven't carried a business card in probably a decade. Talk about feeling caught with my pants down!
As someone whose daily grind is to create business cards for people, you'd think that I'd be more prepared but I was humbled by my own aloofness. I felt like an amateur.
Business cards seem irrelevant in this digital age. Personally I hate extra scraps of paper lying around so the information gets put into my phone and then tossed. But, after this experience, I did some research and am convinced that business cards are still essential. Here is why:
When it comes to designing your card, you want to make sure yours stands out. People these days are really thinking outside of the box - some are even made of chocolate!

Do we even need them?
Maybe don't talk about Trump in your holiday letter
Haha, this seems kind of obvious, but then again I bet the temptation is a little too real considering there isn't an option for instantaneous feedback with snail mail.
Some other good pointers:
Well, this is just a list of "don'ts". So, what does that leave?
The holiday "non-letter"
The holiday "non-letter" is a trendy, attractive way to share your news and info in an appealing, infographic style without sharing too much. I think they even make a great personal keepsake.
Here are just a few of my favorites. Click to enlarge.

What to do with all of those cards and letters
My favorite ones usually end up on my fridge, and (gulp) most of the others get "decluttered" (er...tossed). Mom stuffs hers into a really cute miniature holiday sled for those interested. This year, I decided to investigate what other people do and I found some really exciting up-cycling ideas and cool displays.

And, if you're not feeling any of this, but can't bring yourself to toss them into the recycle bin, you can always donate them.
Need some help?
Lastly, if you don't have time to take care of any of this, give me a call and I'd love to help.
